Question: How much would you pay for this diaper cake?
(Posted by: ~~Daniel's Mommy~~ on 2009-07-20 22:11:44)
Just curious! I want to price my diaper cakes, but after looking at ones online, they are way too expensive! What would you pay for a home made one like this one here? http:/ / www.facebook.com/ photo_search.php?oid=115009048936 &view=user#/ photo.php?pid=7922126 &o=all &op=1 &view=all &subj=115009048936 &aid=- 1 &id=578805453 &oid=115009048936 &ref=mf Thanks for your opinion! Ps. Please be gentle....it is my first one! |

Gosh, I'm so horrible at guessing prices. Um...$40-$50? Does that seem to much, too little? I wouldn't be surprised if that's about what it costs! |

I don't know, But it is really pretty. I think it could go for a high price, it is much more elaborate one than any other one I have seen. So I would charge a bit for them if you can, but you would make more customers if you charged a decent price for them and you would be more likely to get referalls from previous customers if you kept the prices farley decent. Sorry I am not any help at all. Lol. |

Well, it is hard to tell how many diapers are in this one and what other items you have included. I make small, 2 tier cakes to a bottle center. The base cake is 15 - I then charge $1 per flower that I make, I can make them from wash cloths or socks (sock obviously come in pairs at $2 because it makes 2 flowers) My small cake holds 28 diapers. good luck EDIT - so I can't read - I see it has 60 diapers. It should bring at least $40 I would guess. |

It all depends how much $ you put into it and make sure you are charging yourself adequately for labor. Ex: items cost $20 and you work 1 hour on it...$30 wouldnt be worth making it for. $45 would be better. I would personally spend around that -$45 I mean- on it. You did really great! It is very cute! |

I'd say 30 dollars. You want to price it so people don't look at it and think, "I could do that, " but you also want to make it look like people couldn't just go home and make one themselves- Plus, in this economy, you want people to think they are getting a god deal on something that will make a difference whether or not the have it. I agree, you did wonderful...SOLD! |

No more than $40. It looks great though, but would be nice to see it without the covering over it |

Not bad for your first cake I myself have made a few, (including cow themed for my sister, winnie the pooh themed for a friend, pretty in pink themed for another friend, and now I'm currently working on a superman themed cake for my husband's best friend and his wife) though, I must admit, I get alittle out-landish when I make my cakes...I always start out meaning to make a modest 2-3 teir cake, then I wind up with nearly 300 diapers and a few toys. Plus I like to get a cute onsie to roll up and hide inside the cake. Heck, my sister's cake had baby soaps and shampoos hidden in the middle- lol! diaper cakes are so fun to make and they really give you an opportunity to get creative plus the person who recieves the cake always loves the personalized touch on some neccessary baby items based on the ammount of diapers, and overall craftmanship...I'd pay maybe $50 closer to $60 if its a nice teddybear and blanket included you obviously have talent- I hope you continue with this hobby |
