Are diaper cakes easy to make?

Question: Are diaper cakes easy to make?

(Posted by: Spencer's Mommi on 2009-07-19 23:37:08)

Okay so I have already seen all the web sites that tell you how to make them or where to buy them at. My question is: Is it easier then it looks to make one, even if your not very crafty? Also if you have made one can you give me a couple tips that you have used? thanks

The diaper cake I received at my baby shower didn't have individually tied diapers--they used tiny clear rubber bands, like for braces. It wasn't inconvenient at all for me to take the rubber band off, but I could see getting annoyed at untying string. Also, mine used two different sizes of diapers, which was great. The large two bottom tiers were size one, and the two smaller top tiers were size two. Tying little goodies to the diaper cake is cool as well. The one I got had miniature sized baby shampoo, lotion, even binkies and socks. It was topped with the cutest stuffed bunny! Have fun, and be creative!

It's very easy! MY SIS-IN-LAW made me one for my baby shower and it took her less than 20 minutes. if you wanted to keep it after the baby is born you coulld buy some cheap daipers to make it with, most of them have really cute designs. target store-brand has polka dots! i like them alot!!! plan-the-perfect-baby-shower.com/ diaper-cake.html

I have never made one.. but I have received.. and while it was sweet and cute.. and the diapers were nice ---- you have to untie each diaper individually... It nearly wasn't worth it.. I actually only untied half and donated the rest.. Just wanted to share that perspective on it all.

I have made a diaper cake. I am not crafty and honestly it wasn't that hard. My biggest problem was getting the ribbon straight around the cake layers. My advice is to follow the directions to a T and it takes a bit of time so be patient! Here is a pic of one I made my sister: s117.photobucket.com/ albums/ o41/ laceywins80/ ?action= view &current= DSCF2575.jpg The B on top is for her son's name, Bryson.

Use brand new diapers, not pooped in ones.
